It is with great pleasure that we announce the 7th Environmental and Clean Energy Inaugural Ball on Monday, January 21, 2013. The event will once again be held at the beautiful Sequoia Restaurant located on the Washington Harbour waterfront in Georgetown from 8-12:00 midnight. This bi-partisan celebration has become a Washington tradition over the past 24 years as the environmental and clean energy communities gather to welcome a new Administration and make headway towards a more sustainable future.

At our last event in 2009 we had nearly 200 companies and organizations in the environmental and clean energy fields joining us to highlight the importance of environmental and clean energy challenges through bi-partisan cooperation. This remarkable coalescing of so many different organizations has allowed us to successfully include key Administration officials from the Environmental Protection Agency as well as the Departments of Energy, Agriculture, Transportation, Commerce, among many others. Members of Congress, key industry representatives, and a range of supporters and interested citizens have made this a sell out every time.

Ball organizers Jan Hartke, Doug Durante, and Scott Sklar
with Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

The main goal of this event is to bring together the large number of us working on the same issues, while providing a quality event that is reasonably priced to accommodate our organizations’ individual members. We are therefore holding to our 2009 $200 per ticket price that includes an open bar, a full dinner buffet, and a great band for dancing and entertainment!!! A green screen photography booth allows ball patrons to have their picture taken at the swearing in ceremony! There are a very limited number of reserved tables of 8 that are available at $2,500.00 in addition to the individual tickets. If you thought you might be interested in helping to sponsor the ball, there are numerous ways to do so and please contact us to discuss those options with you.

For the past 6 of these balls we have had a tremendous response from incoming Administration officials and we have never failed to get Secretaries of Energy, Interior, the Administrator of EPA, and many other agencies and White House officials. In 2009 our Guests included Energy Secretary Chu and Lisa Jackson from EPA. In addition we have always had members of Congress attend and occasional celebrities. And, we have an invitation in to Bill Clinton to be a special Honored Guest.

Former Epa Administrator William Reilly and Incoming

Dear Friends of the Environment and Clean Energy Supporter:

The Big Band sounds of the Main Event keep the ball rolling!

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is with great pleasure that we announce the 7th Environmental and Clean Energy Inaugural Ball on Monday, January 21, 2013.

One of the many keys to the success of this event has been the establishment of a Host Committee which is comprised of companies and organizations in the environmental and clean energy fields. At our last event in 2009 we had nearly 200 such organizations working with us to address environmental and clean energy challenges through bi-partisan cooperation. This remarkable coalescing of so many different organizations has allowed us to successfully include key Administration officials from the Environmental Protection Agency as well as the Departments of Energy, Agriculture, Transportation, Commerce, among many others.

If your organization is in the environmental and clean energy space we would be delighted to have you support this event by joining the Host committee. There is absolutely no obligation to doing so but traditionally by joining our Host Committee, tickets will be made available to you in order to facilitate early purchase by your organization’s members. The main goal of this event is to bring together the large number of us working on the same issues, while providing a quality event that is reasonably priced to accommodate our organizations’ individual members. We are therefore holding to our 2009 $200 per ticket price that includes an open bar, a full dinner buffet, and a great band for dancing and entertainment. A green screen photography booth allows ball patrons to have their picture taken at the swearing in ceremony! We hope to have the American Eagle return for photographs as well.

There are a very limited number of reserved tables of 8 that are available at $2,500.00 in addition to the individual tickets. If you thought you might be interested in helping to sponsor the ball, there are numerous ways to do so and please contact us to discuss those options with you.

We will be reaching out to our friends in Congress who have traditionally served on the Honorary Committee for the event. This too helps draw Administration officials to participate in the Inaugural Ball so we can truly make it a bi-partisan celebration of environmental protection and clean energy development.

For those of you who have not had the pleasure of attending this event in the past, we can assure you that it is one of the highlights of the inauguration. It has historically sold out almost immediately and has been hailed as the best inaugural value in Washington! ;Actual ticket allocations and other details will be developed as the Organizing Committee moves forward but tickets are on sale now—please see the ticket link with Ball Info above on the home page. So, if you are in an organization at this time it is essential to gather your membership in forming the Host Committee. There is absolutely no obligation of any kind in joining, but there is the benefit of guaranteed access to a number of tickets to be set aside for your organization and to help highlight the importance of our issues.

Our Organizing Committee includes Doug Durante of the Clean Fuels Foundation, Jan Hartke of the Clinton Climate Initiative, Bill Holmberg, American Council of Renewable Energy; Scott Sklar of the Stella Group; Carol Werner of the Environmental and Energy Study Institute; John Topping of the Climate Institute, and Burl Haigwood of the Clean Fuels Development Coalition.

We also have an Advisory Committee that includes individuals such as former Senator Tim Wirth, United Nations Foundation; William Reilly, former Administrator, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Admiral Dennis McGinn of the American Council on Renewable Energy, and many other notables.

Please let us know if you will be able to join on the Host Committee, help sponsor, or buy tickets. We look forward to working with you to put on a successful Inaugural Ball!

Sincerely,

The Organizing Committee of the 7th Environmental and Clean Energy Inaugural Ball

Environmental and Clean Energy Groups to hold the bipartisan
7th Environmental and Clean Energy Inaugural Ball.

Washington, D.C., November 13, 2012: Building on the success of 6 previous Inaugural Balls, a wide range of environmental and clean energy organizations announced plans today to once again hold the Environmental & Clean Energy Inaugural Ball.

This bi-partisan celebration has become a Washington tradition over the past 24 years as the environmental and clean energy communities gather to welcome a new Administration and make headway towards a more sustainable future. The event will be held at the Sequoia Restaurant located on the Washington Harbor waterfront in Georgetown on Monday, January 21st at 8:00 pm.

Douglas A. Durante, Executive Director of the Clean Fuels Foundation and Co-Chair of the ball, said “At our last event in 2009 we had nearly 200 organizations working with us to raise awareness of environmental and clean energy challenges through bi-partisan cooperation. This remarkable coalescing of so many different interests has allowed us to successfully include key Administration officials from the Environmental Protection Agency as well as the Departments of Energy, Agriculture, Transportation, Commerce, among many others. An Honorary Congressional Committee and an Advisory Committee of key leaders from the business and environmental communities have added to the success of the ball.”

Durante also noted that because the ball features an open bar, a full dinner buffet, a great band for dancing and entertainment, and such a beautiful setting it has historically sold out quickly and has been hailed as the best inaugural value in Washington!
